Creative Ways to Use Your Loft Conversion

Ah yes; the loft, the attic – that Scalextric graveyard, the shrine to mid-80s action figures and the dusty dumping ground for many a college thesis. But there is so much more we could be doing with these rooms, and sometimes even making a pretty penny along the way. So, let’s take a look at some of the more creative ways we could be using these spaces.

Go Zen

In an ever increasingly stressful world, converting your loft into a tranquil environment could be just what you need to unwind and find your inner peace. Yoga, Pilates, Meditation and silent self-care are all paths to mental wellness. After conversion has been completed, set up is minimal; a yoga mat, a Swiss ball (you know, those over-sized space hopper things used for exercise). As they say, “you gotta do you”. Just remember to leave your phone downstairs.

The Cave

A man or wo-man cave could be just the spot for you to unwind, get away from the kids and enjoy a game of pool, a throw of the old arrows, or some serious online gaming time. Pop a fridge up there and you’ll never have to leave. The best thing about this is that Neanderthals were social creatures, so it’ll be a great spot for inviting over a few friends and getting stuck in to a serious knees-up.

Starry, Starry Night

Astronomy is becoming more and more popular, so why not transform your loft into a magical place to observe the universe? Home observatories take a little time to set up, and a bit more patience, however thanks to new developments in digital technology in reducing light pollution, a mini-observatory could be just the place for a touch of soothing stargazing.

AirBnB Bedroom In Loft

A Bit on the Side

We’re talking finance, not romance. Convert your loft into an uber-chic bedroom and rent it out on Airbnb. Bear in mind that with this option, you’ll probably want a bathroom up there in the loft for guest use as well. If you’re not that inspired by a troupe of international weirdos occupying your loft space, then create a master bedroom just for you. With a bit of clever lighting, some smart shelving and a tweak to the skylights, this could be the bedroom that you’ve always dreamt about.

Get Crafty

Convert your loft and become the envy of your friends with your very own home microbrewery. Craft beer has seen an explosion over the last few years, with sales reaching over 135m in the UK in 2018. As a nation, we’re drinking less but drinking better quality products. Whether you’re brewing for personal pleasure or creating a hop-based start-up, the joys of making your own craft beer are a growing trend world-wide. Why not become a part of the movement?
